The Calgary Greenway

Parks Foundation Calgary is building on Calgary's nearly 1,000 km of pathway with the Calgary Greenway, a linear pathway that will encircle the city. The Calgary Greenway will be much more than a pathway; it will offer citizens and visitors alike off-leash dog parks, rest areas, family fitness parks and even educational wetlands.
The Calgary Greenway will be a year-round destination for cyclists, cross-country skiers, bird and nature watchers, inline skaters and dog walkers. It will offer a new and scenic continuous pathway for numerous competitive and family races and connect over 40 communities. Most importantly, it will offer free recreational opportunities to all Calgarians.
The Calgary Greenway will be a total of 113 km of pathways and parks, including 60 new km and will link to the city's existing pathway network.

64th Avenue Off-Leash Dog Park
As one of the amenities for Phase 1 of the Greenway Project, the Off-Leash Dog Park will be located at the end of 64th Avenue NE. This well-needed amenity for Calgary dog owners will consist of 11 acres of fully fenced park. The fencing will allow for a separate area for small dogs to run off-leash away from larger breed dogs. There will be gravel pathway running the length of the park and circling the small existing wetland area. The park will feature rustic and natural elements for dog play, including berms, log piles, and jumps. Greenway-themed benches will be included inside the fencing for dog-owners to stop and rest on. A river rock monument will be added to recognize the donor of funds for this park. The park will be accessible from the Greenway in three areas with lockable gates and through the 38-car parking lot just off of 64th Avenue SE.
