Thank you to all who joined us on Saturday, September 13th at the new playground in Rosscarrock in southwest Calgary. It was great to see the community come together in celebration of Calgary Playground Day and the grand opening of Rossarrock Community's new playground.
Since it began in 2009, 100 new playgrounds have been built, at a value of nearly $15 million. Each new playground is created in partnership with local residents, who raise matching funds, participate in building the playgrounds and take ownership in the finished project. As well, dozens of local corporations and The City of Calgary Parks support the playground project. The result is stronger, safer communities where children can play and families can come together. The program focuses on helping communities and schools that don't always have the capacity and resources to build playgrounds on their own.
The City of Calgary Parks, Parks Foundation Calgary and Imperial Oil provided financial and volunteer support for the project. Thank you to all our supporters, sponsors and volunteers for joining us on the 2014 Calgary Playground Day Celebration.
