Since its establishment in 1985 as a non-profit organization,
Parks Foundation Calgary has been a guardian of our
community’s natural environment.

As an agent for the City of Calgary, we are a catalyst for projects that will positively impact all Calgarians. Dedicated to preserving and enhancing Calgary’s natural environment, we partner in the development of new parks, playgrounds and open spaces, encourage amateur sport, and work to preserve our ecologically significant river valleys.

Our Mission

We make Calgary a great city for its residents and guests by enhancing healthy lifestyle enjoyment by providing easily accessible, unique, recreational, sport and green spaces in our community.

What We've Achieved

  • Supported more than 110 communities in building playgrounds valued at more than $15 million.
  • Awarded more than $10 million in support of amateur sport, to non-profit groups in Calgary.
  • Dedicated and replaced over 1,000 park benches throughout the city.
  • Developed and enhanced over 100 playgrounds.
  • Encouraged over 25 community-driven projects per year, through our Gift Administration Program.
  • Approved more than 400 grants to sport related projects.

We’ve been involved in well over $100 million worth of parks and recreation. We’ve got the support from three levels of government. It’s because of the ideas we have. I’m proud as the dickens of it. It’s a fabulous organization. There’s an awful lot of business talent that’s gone into the Parks Foundation.
