In partnership with the Forest Lawn Community Association, we are excited to announce that the construction of the park redevelopment project, located next to the community centre, is underway! Construction of the park is expected to continue over the next few months during the summer and is anticipated to be completed in the fall of this year, 2024, weather dependent. The design will be accessible for all ages and a variety of user groups. The park will offer opportunities for play, rejuvenation, gathering and physical activity. New amenities in the park might include a sport court, a seating and community gathering area, and pathways.

Forest Lawn Community Association

Forest Lawn

is a strong community inherently tied to the idea of cultural inclusivity, where its residents engage in a wide range of languages and cultures. The community hopes to create a place for community to gather for social and safe interactions in an inclusive setting, creating a sense of place tied to the broader story of the community, improving park functionality and use, and weaving cultural and ecological narratives throughout the landscape.

Inclusive Playground

Through The City of Calgary’s Parks and Playground Amenities Program (PAPA), construction of a new inclusive playground at Forest Lawn Park was completed in 2024.

An inclusive playground goes beyond minimum accessibility standards to provide an environment where children (and citizens) of all abilities and needs can interact. An inclusive playground is designed for equitable participation that would support the needs of a person with mobility limitations but might also cater to the needs a child who is visually impaired or living with Autism.

Concept design shown is subject to change and may not to be constructed exactly as shown.

Thank you to The City of Calgary’s PAPA program for funding this incredible new addition.
